Seminar Examines the Importance of Building Spacing in Urban Developments

On May 20, 2026, the Department of Basic Science at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences hosted a seminar titled “Suitable Distance Between Residential Building.” The session was presented by Mr. Abdullah Murad Taher in the Seminar Hall of the Department of Basic Science.
The seminar highlighted the critical role that proper spacing between residential buildings plays in fostering a healthy and comfortable living environment. Mr. Taher explained that when the distance between structures is planned in coordination with building heights, it ensures that lower floors receive sufficient sunlight, promotes natural ventilation, and enhances acoustic privacy for residents.
The presentation also addressed the detrimental effects of poor spacing, noting that inadequate distances often lead to increased shadow effects, restricted airflow, and overcrowded living conditions. A significant point of discussion involved the psychological aspect of residency; the presenter noted that while some residents may adapt to substandard conditions over time and fail to report issues, this should not diminish the importance of adhering to strict urban planning standards.
The event concluded by emphasizing that maintaining proper separation distances is essential for achieving sustainable, high-quality residential developments that prioritize the well-being of the community.
