Seminar Highlights 10-Year Strategic Plan for Brown Bear Conservation in Duhok
On Jun 2, 2026, the Department of Animal Production at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences hosted a seminar titled “A 10-Year Strategic Plan for Conserving Brown Bears in Duhok.” The session was presented by Mr. Salam Ramadhan Hussein in the Hall of the Department of Animal Production at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences.
The seminar was specifically designed to raise awareness among first-year bachelor students regarding the vital ecological role that Syrian brown bears play in maintaining the balance of Duhok’s ecosystems. Mr. Hussein detailed the urgent threats currently facing the species, with a particular focus on habitat loss and the increasing frequency of human-wildlife conflicts.
A central component of the presentation was the introduction of a comprehensive 10-Year Strategic Plan. This roadmap outlined practical strategies for conservation, emphasizing the necessity of public education and active community engagement.
