Agricultural Extension Unit

The Agriculture Extension Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences (CAES), University of Duhok, represents a strategic initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical agricultural application in the Kurdistan Region. Established in alignment with the Kurdistan Regional Government's vision for agricultural sector development, this unit serves as a vital conduit connecting the University of Duhok with farming communities, youth, and stakeholders across the region.

The unit's foundational mission centers on empowering young individuals through comprehensive agricultural education, mentorship, and skill development programs. By fostering leadership, teamwork, and personal growth alongside technical agricultural expertise, the initiative cultivates a new generation of agriculturists equipped to address contemporary farming challenges. Its work spans four progressive phases: beginning with awareness and capacity building in primary and middle schools, extending to rural youth development, establishing regional extension centers that link the university with local communities, and ultimately engaging with international organizations to integrate global best practices.

Through its multifaceted approach-encompassing workshops, farm visits, hands-on training, research collaboration, and community garden projects-the Agriculture Extension Unit addresses critical regional needs including sustainable farming practices, climate-resilient agriculture, and market connectivity for local producers. The initiative embodies core values of excellence, integrity, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation, positioning it as both an educational resource and a catalyst for sustainable agricultural transformation in Duhok and beyond.

ALIGNMENT AND INTEGRATION OF THE COMMUNITY

The extension unit will emphasize the interconnection of knowledge, skills, and community well-being. This initiative represents a significant contribution to the University of Duhok's mission and responds directly to the increasing demand for agricultural innovation and support within our region, through:
