New Scientific Achievement: Assist. Prof. Dr. Moyaser Khalil Ibrahim Publishes Groundbreaking Research in Prestigious Elsevier Journal
The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences is proud to announce a significant academic milestone by Asst. Prof. Dr. Moyaser Khalil Ibrahim, who has recently published an innovative research article in the Journal of the Indian Chemical Society.
The study, titled "Regioselectively Substituted Azo Dyes: Synthesis, Structural Proof, and DFT Studies toward Their Application as Photosensitizers and DNA-Binding Agents," was published on May 27, 2026. This high-impact work was featured in an Elsevier-published journal, which holds a Journal Impact Factor (JIF) of 3.4, a CiteScore of 5.8, and is ranked Q2 in both the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases.
The research provides a deep dive into the synthesis and characterization of regioselectively substituted azo dyes. By utilizing advanced spectroscopic techniques and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, the study explores the potential of these compounds as effective photosensitizers and DNA-binding agents, opening new doors in chemical and medical applications.
This achievement is the result of a successful scientific collaboration between researchers from the University of Duhok, Koya University, and the University of Zakho. Such partnerships continue to elevate the international academic standing of the Kurdistan Region’s universities.
